Corn

Let Kozgro help you with the following pest and disease problems in corn: nematode, corn borer, rootworm, spider mite, earworm, aphid, etc.  Kozgro's organic fertilizer and plant food, AFB, not only helps to reduce these diseases and insect problems, but also helps to rejuvenate the soil, and helps to increase corn production.

The AFB works with the soil, as well as the plant.  If the soil is properly balanced, you will normally have a healthier, more vigorous plant.  In the soil, the AFB helps to build humus and helps to start the process that quickly breaks down the crop residue into organic matter, and finally into humus which the plant can use.  The AFB has an active humic acid in it.  The AFB also helps to set up a conducive environment in the soil that enables beneficial microorganisms, as well as earthworms and other beneficial organisms, to multiply.

AFB helps to eliminate the need to treat your fields for nematodes and other parasitic organisms found in the soil.  The AFB does not kill these pests directly, but creates a conducive environment in the soil for beneficial microorganisms to flourish.  The beneficial predatory microorganisms in the soil feed on, and help to control, the parasitic organisms that damage the corn crop.

The AFB also helps to create a healthier immune system in the corn plant.  A healthier immune system, in turn, helps to increase the sugar level in the corn plant.  This is very important when growing corn.  First of all, a higher sugar level will help to reduce insect and disease problems in your corn.  High sugar content in the corn plant is very important as chewing and sucking insects excrete sugar, but are unable to digest it.  If these insect pests ingest too much sugar, they develop a condition similar to diarrhea, and will die.  Generally, when the sugar content is high enough in the corn plant, the harmful insects will simply avoid feeding on it.  This is the reason for less insect damage in cornfields that are using the Kozgro program.

One of the many advantages of the Kozgro program is that the AFB helps to increase the availability and utilization of fertilizers by working with the Soil Food Web.  Also, the fertilizer will remain in the root zone longer, while the losses from leaching, volatilization, and being tied up, are reduced.  This is why the amount of nitrogen used can normally be reduced by 20 to 25% when using the Kozgro program.

Farmers growing irrigated corn on the Kozgro program have reported water savings of up to 25% during the growing season.  The soil's ability to retain water is improved very quickly as the AFB helps build humus in the soil.  They also report better nematode control, and less insect damage.  The end result is more profit.

Kozgro's organic fertilizer and plant food (AFB) is a liquid and very easy to use.  It is most effective when applied broadcast.  The AFB can also be applied through center pivot irrigation, if the proper injection equipment is used.  Timing of application is extremely important for maximum results.  Contact your Kozgro dealer, or check the Kozgro Application Chart, for application rates and times.
