Kozgro's AFB
(How It Works)

Previous Page

Kozgro’s Agricultural Field Blend (AFB) is a unique product. It has been developed over years of intensive research.  The AFB is a totally organic product made form plant extracts.  The unique extracting, blending processes is the key to the product success.

How does Kozgro’s AFB works in the soil?

The Humus cycle.
AFB contains an active form of humic acid derived from our plant extracting process.  This active form of humic acid is in a readily available state for the plant to use.  The AFB not only adds a readily available form of humus to the soil, but it accelerates the humus cycle itself.   With the Kozgro program, residue is more rapidly broken down into organic matter and then into its final state of humus, which can then be utilized by the plant.  Many people confuse organic matter with humus.  Organic matter and humus are not the same thing.  Soils can have a high organic matter content and at the same time have little or no humus in the soil.

Even having an extremely high organic matter in your soil may have little or no value to your crop.  The fact of the matter is organic matter itself is not available to the plant to utilize.  It must be broken down from organic matter to humus before the plant can receive benefit from it.  It is important to break down residue into humus, in order for the humus cycle to continue and build a healthy productive soil.

Many times we mistake plant residue as indicating that the soil is healthy.  In a healthy soil these plant residues readily break down into organic matter and finally into humus.  Plant residue today has become a problem rather than an asset.  Too often plant residue can be found in our soils years after that crop has been harvested.  This residue becomes a liability rather than an asset.  Often the residue is not returned to the soil, but disposed of by burning or using nitrogen.
